Domestic abuse thrives in silence. Too often, survivors feel judged, silenced, or isolated—left without the support they need. And while people within a survivor’s community are often the first to recognize the signs, a lack of understanding and confidence can leave them unsure about how to respond—or afraid to even start the conversation.
The Empowerment Collective is here to change that. Our free community-based training equips individuals in Cambridge with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to understand domestic abuse and respond effectively. Everyone is welcome. By joining, you can help to create safer spaces where survivors feel heard, supported, and empowered to reclaim their lives.
Why sign up? By coming on the training, you will:
The following values underpin our approach, and we expect all participants to align with them in order to create an inclusive and welcoming group for all.
Are you ready to make a difference? If you want to learn something new, create real change, be part of something bigger, and build a better future for survivors, then we can't wait to meet you.
We have two community courses available to sign up to:
This focuses on the root causes and dynamics of domestic abuse, and practical skills in responding when someone tells you about abuse.
This focuses on challenging victim-blaming, creating culture shift, and how communities can take real action to break the silence about domestic abuse.
We run regular training sessions throughout the year, some online and some in-person. Click the links above to see current dates. We are committed to making our offer as inclusive as possible, including offering some sessions with BSL interpreters this year. If you would like to join but something is holding you back, please get in touch to see if we can help!
